The Hillsdale County Community Foundation YOUTH (Youth Opportunities Unlimited Throughout Hillsdale) will be “Rocking at Riverfest” in Jonesville on May 18th. After a highly successful event last year, the YOUTH have again chosen to hold a “Rock-A-Thon” as a fundraiser for this school year. The Rock-A-Thon is an event which requires each YOUTH member to secure pledges for financial donations, depending on how long they rock in rocking chairs. Community members can support a YOUTH member by pledging a certain dollar amount for each minute they rock ($1/minute or more), or by pledging a one-time donation, collected after the YOUTH member completes their rocking shift.
Because of all the activity and the many events planned for Jonesville’s Riverfest celebration, the YOUTH chose to hold the Rock-A-Thon in Jonesville. Jonesville Lumber has generously volunteered to allow the YOUTH to place their chairs at their location. YOUTH members will be rocking beginning at 10 am and continuing through 2 pm. While members are responsible for securing pledges ahead of the event, one-time donations will be accepted at any time. This event is designed to raise funds for the Kellogg Youth Advisory Fund at the Community Foundation, an endowment fund from which the YOUTH are able to fund grant requests from area non-profits who are looking to finance projects and ideas to better the youth of Hillsdale County.
