The Living Last Supper – Adrian

April 19, 2019 @ 7:00 pm

The Maple Avenue Bible Church presents a living re-enactment of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting The Last Supper. This famous painting was not intended as a faithful reproduction of the original scene as it took place in first century Palestine, but as it might have taken place in fifteenth century Italy.

In The Last Supper, the artist chose what he considered the most dramatic moment of the Last Supper, that moment just after the Lord has said, “One of you will betray Me.” Instantly, the twelve Apostles became men of twelve different moods. The only composed person was Jesus, Himself. In the excitement, Judas overturned the container of sale, while Peter drew his knife. Some of the Apostles stared at the Lord in utter amazement, while others looked at each other in stark unbelief.

In this living dramatization of Leonard da Vinci’s The Last Supper, the twelve Apostles speak their minds to themselves, to each other and to the Lord in the light of the tragic words which they have just heard Him speak.

MABC will portray “The Living Last Supper” with a live cast, costumes and music on Thursday, April 18th at 7:00 PM and Good Friday, April 19th at 7:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served after each performance.

There is no charge for attending. Both of the dramatic presentations will be at Dawson Auditorium, Adrian College campus, entrance on Charles Street, Adrian, Michigan.
