On Friday through Sunday, August 9-11, St. James Church in Mason will host their fourth annual St. James Fish-N-Chips Festival & Camino 8K/5K. The newly named Fish-N-Chips Festival will feature amazing fish-n-chips dinners from the Mason Knights of Columbus on both Friday and Saturday evening.
The Fish-N-Chips Festival is also proud to present noted speaker and author Steve Ray, who will share his story of conversion to the Catholic Church. All are invited to hear Steve at 1:30 on Saturday, preceding the Festival’s now popular Island-style Outdoor Mass at 4 p.m.
Many other favorite Festival events and activities return this year, including: Live Music by the Ralph DeVitto Band Friday night, and the Phil Weiferich Big Band and Updraft Saturday night all in the Festival Beer Garden and Music Tent. A Live Auction will be called Friday night, featuring an African Safari Tour and Gulf Shores vacation packages for auction. Saturday evening events will include a hot-air balloon launch and illume, and Bingo; plus a Kids’ Playland and bounce house, silent auction, book sale, and bake sale will be ongoing throughout the entire Festival.
On Sunday morning, August 11, the fourth annual Camino of St. James 8K/5K and Fun Runs will hit the streets of Mason; with proceeds from the race supporting St. Vincent Catholic Charities. As always, the popular all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be a part of race festivities!
