This year the Music Department and Drama Program at Spring Arbor have chosen the musical version of Little Women based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott as their joint musical theater production.

The cast, orchestra, and crew are made up of students from across campus who have been involved with music and drama courses and activities. Dr. Natalie Emptage Downs, serves as the Vocal Director, with SAU’s Director of Instrumental Music, Dr. Mark Douglass, as this production’s Music Director and Producer. Communication and Media Associate Professor, Jen Letherer, is our Director.

Students collaborate over the course of Interim and the beginning of spring semester to bring this production to life. This Musical tells the story of Jo March and her sisters Meg, Beth, and Amy as they grow from girls to young ladies, facing trials both big and small. Through their adventures with the boy next door, Laurie, his stern grandfather, Mr. Lawrence, their rich Aunt March, the handsome Mr. Brook and always their loving Marmee, the girls know they can always depend on each other. Jo’s writing and her relationship with Prof. Bhaer provide the bookends to the ever-charming tale of Little Women.
