Lighthouses Come to Mid-Michigan – Jackson
Michigan lighthouses are coming to Mid-Michigan! The lecture/concert, “Lighthouses Beam In Jackson”, using the technology of the big screen at the Michigan Theatre on April 16, 2014, brings lighthouses inland to celebrate their beauty and history. A free workshop begins the festive events at 6:00 pm, focusing on lighthouses and their keepers’ importance in our state. It will be presented by world renowned author and lighthouse expert Sharma Krauskopf.
Following the workshop at 7:00pm a popular East Coast contemporary folk duo, Neptune’s Car (http://neptunescar.com), will celebrate history including lighthouses, their keepers, and mariners in song accompanied by photographs of Michigan Lighthouses. There is a charge of $19.50 per adult for the concert. Children accompanied by a paying adult may attend free-of-charge.
This inland celebration of lighthouses is being presented by “Keepers,” a
feature-length motion picture being produced by a Parma company, Keepers LLC. The profit from the concert will be used to support the filming of “Keepers” at Pointe aux Barques Lighthouse on the shores of Lake Huron this fall. “Keepers” is an independent feature film that celebrates the great beauty of Michigan and honors the legacy of Michigan lighthouses and their keepers.
