Jazz with the Ron Brooks Trio – Jackson

Jackson Symphony Performing Arts Center
Up Close Jazz November 8

The Ron Brooks Trio featuring, direct from Carnegie Hall Jackson’s own Tad Weed on piano, percussionist Pete Siers and Ron Brooks on bass kick off a new series at the Jackson Symphony Orchestra Performing Arts Center 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 8.
First in the “Up Close” series, an opportunity to interact as well as be entertained in an intimate setting. A bit of a reverse, instead of sending classical musicians into clubs, the JSO is bringing jazz musicians into their “concert” hall. Hear from musicians themselves on how they choose themes, create, and interact with one another.

Tad Weed and Pete Siers have toured internationally, been members of various ensembles, served on the music faculty of a number of universities, including University of Michigan. Weed is now the Adjunct Assistant professor of Jazz Piano at Bowling Green State University and the Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of Toledo. Siers performs in his Latin quintet, Los Gatos, and The Pete Siers Quartet, releasing a CD in 2009.

Ron Brooks is predominantly a self-taught bassist, who toured, had short stints on music faculty, including U of M, but is best known amongst jazz enthusiasts for his “Bird of Paradise Jazz Club” in Ann Arbor where he was blessed to have played with some of the “Jazz Greats.”

This performance is sponsored by the Jackson Symphony Guild. Admission is $15 at the door. Light refreshments will be served.
