Opportunity for High School Students to Exhibit Art – Clarklake

“In Good Company” Restaurant (IGC) in the Greater Jackson Area is offering an opportunity for High School artists in three neighboring counties to exhibit their artwork competitively.  Jackson County High School-aged students will have their opening show on March 14th, Hillsdale on March 21st and Lenawee on April 18th.  Each show will hang for one week.

Students are to submit their artwork by the Wednesday night before opening.

Ron Frenzen, Visual Arts Director of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, will jury the Jackson and Lenawee County competitions.  Professor Roxanne Fogel, of Spring Arbor University’s Art Department will jury the Hillsdale County Show.

Prizes and recognition will be determined at time of show hanging.  Kate Schwartz, Gallery Coordinator and Restaurant Manager, says, “This opportunity is great for promising high school artists.  On behalf of IGC, it’s a real pleasure to be able to help students beef up their high school resumes and put themselves out there creatively.  We hope to really inspire people”

In 2012, “In Good Company” Restaurant installed a gallery hanging system in their dinning to room in order to feature local artists.  Michael and Amy Manville, Restaurant Owners, saw their walls as an opportunity to better serve the immediate community’s desire for arts and culture.   Every Thursday, IGC offers a local artist or group of artists an opening show and reception.  Shows hang for one week.  Applications can be found online at IGC’s website www.IGCrestaurant.com.
