The Hillsdale County Chamber of Commerce has joined County National Bank, the Hillsdale County Agricultural Society, and the Market House to ensure a fireworks display on July 3rd in Hillsdale County. The Chamber Board enthusiastically approved a $5,000 donation to the Fireworks campaign, an amount matching the commitments from County National Bank and the Market House. “We are honored to assist this effort to celebrate our Independence,” said Chamber President Eric Potes. “Our Board thought it was important to continue the 100-plus year tradition of fireworks over the Independence Day weekend and we are delighted to contribute to the display, which will be enjoyed by many in our community.”
Spectators this year will not be able to view the fireworks from the Hillsdale County fairgrounds, as the area will be secured by local authorities to ensure the public’s safety. Community members are encouraged to view the fireworks from neighboring homes, parks, and lakes using appropriate social distancing, and this year’s show will incorporate higher flying fireworks in order to make this possible. Community members are still encouraged to make a donation to this event and future independence events by making a deposit into the All American Celebration account at any County National Bank branch or by donating through a GoFundMe online fundraiser that has been set up under “Light Up The Sky to Celebrate Our Independence”: https://www.gofundme.com/f/szjsad-light-up-the-sky
“Thanks to the Chamber’s commitment, we are finalizing plans for a great fireworks show on Friday, July 3rd,” said event chairman Brett Boyd. “We appreciate the support of other businesses that have also stepped up in recent days to make this a reality.” Boyd shared that Barrett Insurance of Jonesville and G&G Glass of Hillsdale have also donated significant dollars in recent days to ensure the event.
