The Jackson County Parks Association will unveil new LED rope lights at the Cascade Falls at 9pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013 with a brief “relighting” ceremony.
The $20,000 project, mostly funded from the Jackson County Parks Association, includes replacing the computer system, light software program, light controllers and the lights.
The 1,230 incandescent bulbs (60 watts apiece) will be replaced with 90 LED rope lights that will allow for brighter, more vibrant light shows and save about 60% of energy costs. The new computer system and software will allow for more frequent updates to the show and music. The existing computer and software program was put into place in the early 1990’s. The technology requires cassette tapes to change the lights according to cues that were loaded onto the music. This technology is no longer supported and is nearly impossible to find replacement parts for.
