Benefit Silent Auction and Concert in Memory of Heather Renee Gales & Awareness of Guillain-Barré syndrome – Michigan Center

March 1, 2014 @ 5:00 pm – March 1, 2014 @ 9:00 pm

There will be a fundraiser event and benefit on March 1 starting at 5 with a silent auction and concert at 6:30 pm at Rak’s Sports Bar in Michigan Center. The event is in memory of Heather Renee Gales and in awareness of the Guillain-Barré syndrome.

ALL proceeds are going to be given to her mother who has been paying debt resulting from her passing. Funds will also be put in a trust fund for her 3 children and also to a charity that supports the disease she died from.

The women that passed, Heather Brunty-Gales died from Guillain-Barré syndrome. Heather Renee Gales was perfectly healthy until age 26. She had flu like symptoms a few weeks prior, then on November 1, 2012 she was diagnosed with a autoimmune disease that attacks the nerves called Guillain Barre Syndrome. The doctors believe it was brought on by a UTI that turned viral. Only 1 in 100,000 people get it.All the doctors at all hospitals said Heather’s diagnosis was the rarest form of the disease they had seen. Since most are paralyzed outside physically Heather was paralyzed inside. Her digestive track, bowels, bladder and swallowing. It also paralyzed her from walking. Heather was a fighter and fought hard till the end. She was in 6 hospital and 4 care facilities for the past 13 months of her life. On December 17, 2013 The LORD called Heather home. Heather was hospitalized for over 13 months. She was in 6 hospitals and 4 care facilities in that 13 months. Heather was an inspiration to so many people. She always had a smile no matter how sick she was.

This is a disease that needs to have a lot more research done on it and that is why I have hopes to host a benefit every year to create more awareness. My intentions are to assist her mother, who was by her side every single day for over a year. Her mother, Bobbi Brunty didn’t have a job that paid well enough to even consider paying all the costs as well as assisting with the care of Heather’s 3 children. Shes doing what she can, but with Heather’s death being but a month ago, I cant imagine how difficult it is to have that on her mind, along with the financial burden. As well, after debt is paid, I have requested a trust fund open for the children and I will be sure that funds are reached out to that as well. A significant portion will also be given to a charity that supports GBS.
