Brass Band of Battle Creek “A SALUTE TO OUR FRONTLINE HEROES” Concert – Streaming You Tube Premiere
May 15 @ 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

THE BRASS BAND OF BATTLE CREEK’S VIRTUAL 2021 SPRING CONCERT, A SALUTE TO OUR FRONTLINE HEROES, PREMIERES ON SATURDAY, MAY 15

2020 proved to be a year of change, courage, and survival. 2021 will be a year of healing, perseverance, and unending gratitude! As we surpass the one-year anniversary of the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Brass Band of Battle Creek is grateful for all of the people who have been fighting tirelessly to keep our communities safe, our economy moving, and our families healthy.

The BBBC will celebrate and honor these incredible individuals with its virtual 2021 Spring Concert, A Salute to Our Frontline Heroes. The 60-minute music experience will premiere on the band’s YouTube channel on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. and will also be available on AccessVision.

“We felt the best way to thank our frontline heroes was through our music,” said Executive Director Shannon Aikins, “we hope they feel the heartfelt appreciation we have for their hard work, dedication, and concern for all those whose lives they have touched.”

The Brass Band of Battle Creek is proud to be a part of Battle Creek and its surrounding communities and is focused on being inclusive in its efforts to allow everyone the opportunity to join this salute in appreciation of our heroes. Several area community leaders have been invited to share messages of gratitude throughout the concert and all donors who make a gift of support for the BBBC’s A Salute to Our Frontline Heroes will be listed in the credits. In order to meet production deadlines, gifts must be received by April 20 and can be made online at www.bbbc.net, by phone at 269 789-2222, or by mail at PO Box 556, Marshall, MI 49068.

While the pandemic restrictions are slowly being eased, the current safety guidelines do not allow the full 29-member band to be together for the May performance. BBBC musicians scheduled to perform on A Salute to Our Frontline Heroes are Chris Jaudes, Rich Kelley, Justin Emerich, Rex Richardson, Adam Unsworth, Gail Robertson, Demondrae Thurman, Tony Baker, Marshall Gilkes, Charles Vernon, Phil Sinder, William Russell, John Beck and David Coash. In addition, David Taylor, Alex Smith, Michael Hyde, and Kjell Croce will join in on select pieces. BBBC resident conductor Michael J. Garasi will lead this dynamic ensemble, and the program will include a diverse selection of music with (as always) a surprise or two for viewers.

The Brass Band of Battle Creek will once again work with Ingalls Pictures to produce A Salute to our Frontline Heroes. Ingalls Pictures, owned and operated by the Ingalls family, have deep Battle Creek roots.  Co-founders Hugh and Ned Ingalls graduated from St. Philip Catholic High School, and their younger brother Will is a graduate of Lakeview High School. Their parents, Pete and Elle, were longtime administrators for the Battle Creek Symphony, Community Music School and Music Center.

This performance is made possible by the generosity and support from the following current list of community partners: The W.K. Kellogg Foundation; Oaklawn Hospital; CTS Telecom, Inc; Besco Water Treatment, Inc; and Tom and Gayle Kolassa.

Ticketholders for the May 15 spring concert should contact the Brass Band of Battle Creek at 269 789-2222 between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, or by email at saikins@bbbc.net to indicate a refund preference.  Tickets may be transferred to the December 11, 2021 holiday concert, converted to a donation to support the BBBC, or refunded.
