This fall, Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (CPCAN) is hosting a Tailgate Party, sponsored by Jack V. Butterfield Investment Company at the Commonwealth Commerce Center. A fun-filled afternoon of tailgate food, cash bar, raffles, silent auction, Corn Hole tournament, and purchase of squares for Big Ten Football Games will take place. The games will be displayed on large screens throughout the venue. CPCAN is celebrating their 40th year of incorporation! They are proud of the service brought to the children and families of Jackson County, and they look forward to continue that service. Head out and celebrate their accomplishments along with supporting your favorite team. But most importantly: be a Light in the Darkness to the children of Jackson County.

Please join us for our 8th annual Men Who Cook fundraiser to support services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. This is our largest fundraiser of the year and its success depends on supporters and volunteers like you. We feature a large array of local chefs who compete against each other for the Peoples Choice award. As our guest you will be able to sample all of the wonderful food that they prepare and choose which ones you like best. We also have a wide array of raffles with tons of awesome items you can win . So be sure to come hungry and with cash in hand so you can help us reach or $30,000 goal!

Goblin Walks, a not-so-scary event offers magical entertainment just in time for Halloween! A half-mile of Halloween fun awaits you along the pumpkin-lit trails. Meet larger-than-life wildlife who teach you why they aren’t so scary through skits and songs. Afterwards, enjoy hot apple cider and donuts while singing songs and listening to stories. There will be at least two new skits this year, so you want to be sure to get your reservations in soon!

Friday and Saturday Oct. 25 & 26 evening starting at 6:30 pm and every 15 minutes following, another group heads down the pumpkin-lit trail and the last group at 8:30 pm. Fee per person:$7/Dahlem member, $10/non-member. This annual event thanks donors of the Strong Kids Strong Communities Campaign and kicks off fundraising for 2020. This campaign enables them to offer more than $200,000 in financial assistance. This year’s event features entertainment from Your Generation and speedpainter Evan Struck along with other surprises. Also included is dinner, a silent auction, and more.
Held at Richmond Brothers Hangar (3568 Wildwood Ave. Jackson, MI 49201).
Cost is $45 for members and $55 for nonmembers. Tickets are available at the YMCA desk or online at jacksonymca.org.
