Jackson Area Career Center student Hair and Fashion Show – Jackson
“To Each Their Own” is the title of this year’s Jackson Area Career Center student Hair and Fashion Show to be held at the Michigan Center High School auditorium on March 21 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Admission is free, but students are requesting attendees to bring a non-perishable food item or a cash donation for the Michigan Center Food Pantry to thank the community for hosting this well-attended event.
The cosmetology students will display their creativity and skill in a friendly competition against The Salon Spa Academy of Battle Creek. Juniors will compete with their sometimes wild and over-the-top fantasy hairstyles displayed on manikins. Senior students compete on a much more comprehensivescale with live models and “anything goes” themes. Several Career Center programs also will take part in the event, using the skills learned in classes.
· the Agriscience students are designing the floral arrangements;
· the Army JROTC program will be in their military dress uniforms and escort models on and off the stage;
· the Print Technology class created and printed the invitations and programs;
· the Digital Media class will photograph and videotape the event.
Even the maintenance department got involved with stage props, lighting design, and choreographed music. Because of its popularity, the event was moved from the Career Center to Michigan Center High School Auditorium after it first year to accommodate a larger crowd.
