South Central Human Resource Management Association (SCHRMA), an affiliated chapter of SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management), is actively seeking nominations for the 2013 Workforce Diversity Celebration Award. Nominations are not required to be SHRM or SCHRMA members. Workplace diversity is the collective mixture of differences and similarities that include individual and organizational characteristics, values, beliefs, experiences, backgrounds, preferences and behaviors. The award is designed to increase community awareness of diversity and inclusion and help us understand how this affects our community. Nomination forms may be found on the SCHRMA website-schrma.shrm.org
The 2012 winner was Jackson Community College. JCC’s commitment to diversity starts at the very core of their operations, beginning with the strategic plan as adopted by the Board of Trustees. The College is not only dedicated to increasing the diversity of employees, but also increasing the diversity of those served — the students.
Nominations will be accepted until April 8, 2013. The award will be presented on Thursday, May 23 at Cascades Manor House, with a luncheon and program from 12-1:30 p.m. The award will be presented by Karen Belair, Diversity Chairperson for SCHRMA. For more information about nominating a Diversity nominee, please call Karen Belair at 517-750-1900, ext. 106 or email: kbelair@arbormanorrehab.com.
