The Grass Lake Classic Car Show for 2013 is set for Sunday, June 2.
Classic Car Shows in Grass Lake have been an off-and-on event handled largely by a variety of clubs associated with such events on an occasional basis over the years. In 2005 however, the Grass Lake Classic Car Club began pulling together the shows on a regular basis.
Setting up an introduction on Heritage Day, the 4th of July and other selected weekends, the club gathered steam and membership to capture the attention of many classic car enthusiasts and clubs throughout the area to become a staple of just about every event that takes place during the summer. Capitalizing on the “Traffic Jam’in” in July of 2009, the club pulled together a cruise-in night in conjunction with the street fair and week of the “National Stock Outboard Races” and got so many participants that parking the classics became an overwhelming task as space ran out during the evening.
Ultimately, the overflow simply parked among the visitors to the Traffic Jam’in and stopped to partake in the festivities of the night. A regular scene around Grass Lake, the Classic Car Club will host another show this year on Saturday, June 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The show will be set up on a closed Michigan Avenue from Lake Street to the east and Clark Street to the west.
