On June 2nd, the Jackson County Rose Parade will be heading down the streets of Jackson while thousands of spectators watch this Jackson tradition. Planning for this Jackson tradition has been underway for months and the Rose Festival is asking the community for help.
The Rose Parade Committee is currently taking nominations for the Grand Marshal in the Rose Parade. The committee has chosen an “All Roads Lead to Jackson” theme for the parade this year. They feel the nominees should be someone who has given back to the Jackson community through service to their city, county, state or country.
“This year we are anticipating the choice for Grand Marshal to be a very difficult one,” said Paul Buss, Rose Parade director. “We have so many men and women in this community who have made a difference. Giving our citizens a voice is important as the Rose Parade is a Jackson tradition; it belongs to Jackson and it’s fitting the people help choose.”
If you have a nomination for Grand Marshal, please go to our website, click on the Grand Marshal link, and complete the online form with the name of the person, why you feel they should be honored, and the nominees contact information if you have it. Nominee deadline is May 7th.
Another quest for the Parade Committee is to increase the parade entries. “When you organize a parade, you want as many businesses and organizations to participate as possible. With our “All Roads Lead to Jackson” theme this year, we feel it ties into many local organizations and we hope they will join us this year and be honored in the parade,” said Paul Buss, director of the Rose Parade.
Parade entry forms and all details of the Rose Parade and Party in the Park following the parade, are available on the Rose Festival’s website at www.jacksonrosefestival.org/parade-N.html.
