Then join hundreds of dogs and their owners as they high-tail it to Cascades Falls Park to walk for the animals on Saturday, June 1st from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cascades Humane Society is presenting this free family friendly event which promises a tail-waggin’ good time for all animal lovers.

“This is our largest fundraiser and every dollar raised will help save an animal’s life,” said Melissa Woodhurst, Interim Executive Director of Cascades Humane Society. “Every animal that comes through our doors is given veterinary care, a warm bed, nutritious food, and lots of TLC,” Woodhurst explained. “This walk-a-thon allows us to highlight our life-saving work and celebrate the magic of the human-animal bond.”

The event includes a leisurely 1.3 mile walk around the beautiful Cascades Falls Park entertainment by Classic K-9, police dog demonstration, face painting, photos with your pets, a dunk tank along with numerous doggie games and contests and many more family friendly activities. Check-in registration begins at 10 a.m. and the walk will commence at 11:00 a.m.

Paws in the Park isn’t just for dog owners. All animal lovers are encouraged to walk the course in honor of their pets. The walk is also open to schools and corporations that want to form walk teams. There is no fee to register for the walk, but walkers are encouraged to obtain pledges to help raise money for the shelter animals.

Participating is one of the easiest and fun ways to make a difference for so many homeless and neglected animals in our community. Walk with your dog, borrow a neighbor’s dog or walk with a friend. You can even walk in honor of a beloved pet or person.
