Chamber of Commerce Offers Employee Development Program

The success of a business depends largely on how well their employees communicate. To assist our local businesses, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a new Toastmasters Club.

“I’ve seen the value of Toastmasters training in the development of two Chamber staff members and our board chair, Mike Jones”, said Chamber president and CEO Mindy Bradish-Orta. “It is time for the Chamber to bring this training to the forefront so our members can realize the benefits of Toastmasters for their employees too.”

To kick off the new club, the Chamber is hosting an ‘Introduction to Toastmasters’ meeting on Wednesday, May 1st, 2013 from 7:30-9:00a.m. in the downtown Jackson District Library Auditorium (244 W. Michigan). Attendees should park in the back and use the Pearl Street entrance.

This new club will be the only morning club in Jackson. The meetings will be held on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings with the new charter members deciding the day and time. While this club is limited to Chamber members and their employees, all community members are invited to attend this because there are four other clubs that are open to the public. Three of these clubs meet during lunch and one in the evening.

Toastmasters improve communication skills and open doors in personal and professional lives. Instead of laboring in an academic setting or spending money on costly seminars, members learn in a self-paced atmosphere of fun and fellowship. Members of Toastmasters develop better speaking and presentation skills, learn to think quickly and clearly on their feet, build strong leadership abilities and hone listening skills.

A world leader in developing communication and leadership skills, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become more confident in front of others. The Chamber is proud to bring this valuable resource to our businesses to help develop their employees’ communication and leadership skills.
