Suzanne Collin’s Hunger Games trilogy, the story of a country where children have to survive by their wits and skills outdoors, was a huge hit.  Using these books as a launching point, Dahlem is offering a more user-friendly version of the Hunger Games.  Children ages 11 to 17 are invited to attend a day of “training” (Friday) before being turned loose in our “arena” in a game of “survival.”  During training, participants will learn how to build shelters, tie knots, knife safety, plant ID, basic first aid, sneaking and disguise.  Then on Saturday, they will be taken to a designated area on our property (the arena) where their goal is to acquire the bandanas of the other participants without losing their own.  It’s a game of stealth and cleverness.  Staff will be on hand at all times for safety.  Fee:  $30/member; $45/non-member.  Pre-registration is required.
The Dahlem Conservancy is located at 7117 S. Jackson Rd., Jackson, MI  49201. For details, call 517-782-3453 or visit www.dahlemcenter.org.
