Free Lunch Program at Carnegie – Jackson

When:
July 2, 2013 @ 2:15 pm – 3:15 pm
Repeats:
Weekly on Tuesday until August 10, 2013
This summer, the Carnegie Library is embarking on a new opportunity that
will allow us to serve the children of our community in a unique way. We
are partnering with Jackson Public School’s Food Service Department to
become a meal site for the Free Lunch Program. The program provides a
free lunch to all children under the age of 18-there is no financial
criteria for qualification; it is available to everyone 17 and younger!
(Please note that JDL’s Children’s Policy states that all children under
the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or parental
designee.)
The program will run from June 17 through August 9. We will serve lunch
daily in the Auditorium or outside (weather permitting) from 12:30 to
1:30 pm. Jackson Public School’s Food Service Department will bring
nutritional, delicious prepared lunches for the children Monday through
Friday. (On Fridays the menu will include pizza!)
In addition, Carnegie Library’s Children’s Department has scheduled
programs, including storytime, performances, movies, crafts, and
activities before or after the meals in order to provide educational
enrichment opportunities for all children who participate in the Free
Lunch Program.
We hope the Free Lunch Program will fill a need that we see every day,
and help us to introduce children to their public library. If you have
any questions about the Free Lunch Program, please call Carnegie
Library’s Children’s Department at (517) 788-4087.
