On Thursday, March 7th @ 10:00 AM the Emergency Communications Network in cooperation with the Lenawee County Office of Emergency Management will be calling residents across the county as a means of informing them of the Code-Red Severe weather and mass notification systems. I urge residents to take time to listen to two minute message explaining the system and most importantly how they can register for this free service. The mass notification feature is a new addition to the severe weather notification service that has been available to residents for the past two years. The mass notification system can send timely information to a targeted area of the county when an upset condition or an emergency exists which may threaten the safety and welfare of the residents.

Those situations may include;
- Hazardous materials incidents or spills from a transportation accident or a fixed chemical site.
- Pipeline emergencies
- Missing persons
- Emergency law enforcement actions requiring rapid notification of area residents.

County citizens and businesses must sign up to be able to receive these notifications.

Alerts are specific to where an incident is occurring and will not be broadcast on county wide basis. If you receive a notification from the Code-Red system it is relevant to where you live and work in the county.

* If you are already a Code-Red user you do not need to re-register

Go to: www.lenawee.mi.us/departments/emergency-management , then click on the “click here” icon to go to the Code-Red registration portal.
